The Wuji Xiao Yao Kung Fu Academy is based on the Wuji Xiao Yao System created by Grand Master Liang Shou-Yu, which comes from the Wuji and Xiao Yao martial arts of the Song Dynasty. Sanshou or Sanda is Chinese free fighting and can be defined in two categories, traditional and modern. Modern Sanshou is the more popular and well known as it is full contact fighting that employs the use of punching, kicking, and throwing. Modern Sanshou competition on the amateur level has a World Championship every two years with over 75 countries and hundreds of athletes competing in a week long tournament. We have several National Sanshou Champions at the Academy as well as fighters with World Championship experience and a 2005 World Bronze Medalist. Traditional Sanshou is the application of Chinese martial arts or Kung Fu (Wushu) without any rules or formal competitions. It is done without gloves, helmets etc. Sanshou is quickly becoming a recognized force in the world of Mixed Martial Arts. The Wuji Xiao Yao Kung Fu Academy teaches Modern and Traditional Sanshou techniques as well as self defense, fitness and martial morality (Wude). The Sanshou training includes punching, kicking and throwing techniques. We also incorporate ground control into our classes. The circuit training workout provides functional strength while shedding unwanted fat combined with martial arts training.
